Identify specific evidence-based strategies to optimize clinical outcomes in select cardiovascular conditions. (knowledge, competence)
Apply critical thinking skills in the assessment, diagnosis, and management of complex cardiovascular patients through analysis of case studies. (competence, practice)
Identify and critically discuss key clinical trials and guidelines in the area of cardiovascular medicine that were released in the past year and their potential implications for clinical practice. (knowledge, competence)
Discuss the importance of palliative care for end-stage heart failure patients and on opportunities to integrate upstream palliative care into their patient care plans.
Describe the ramifications of the obesity epidemic for cardiovascular nurses and on evidence-based approaches to prevent or reduce obesity in their patients.
Identify opportunities to improve the care of elderly patients who have cardiovascular diseases.
Discuss the components of transitional care, adverse outcomes associated with poor transitional care, and opportunities to improve transitional care in the inpatient and outpatient settings.
