Related Statistics:
  • Approximately every 25 seconds, an American will experience a coronary event, and approximately every minute, someone will die of one.
  • This year, about 785,000 Americans will have a new coronary attack, and about 470,000 will have a recurrent attack.
  • About 29% of patients with MI are patients with STEMI.
  • The most common inpatient cardiovascular procedures in 2009 were angioplasty and cardiac catheterization accounting for about 30% of all cardiovascular procedures.
  • Only 10% of STEMI transfer patients receive PCI within 90 minutes, compared to 63% for direct-arrival patients.
