  • Nearly 26 million people (13%) in the United States have chronic kidney disease, and most are undiagnosed. Another 20 million are at increased risk for chronic kidney disease.
  • The subsequent stroke risk of preeclampsia may be mediated by a 3.6- to 6.1-fold higher later risk of hypertension and a 3.1- to 3.7-fold higher later risk of diabetes, depending on whether the preeclampsia was mild or severe.
