  • In 2004, more than half of the hospital stays for CAD were among patients who also received percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) or coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) during their stay.
  • In 2009, an estimated 1 133 000 inpatient PCI procedures, 416 000 inpatient bypass procedures, 1 072 000 inpatient diagnostic cardiac catheterizations, 116 000 inpatient implantable defibrillator procedures, and 397 000 pacemaker procedures were performed for inpatients in the United States.
