Updated:May 9,2012
Join us for the 5th Annual STEMI Texas 2012 Conference: Advancing STEMI Care Sustaining the Gain, organized by the American Heart Association SouthWest Affiliate in partnership with the AHA Dallas Caruth Initiative.  The conference will be held May 31- June 1, 2012, at the Omni Dallas Hotel in Dallas Texas.

Program Description
The fifth annual STEMI Texas conference will bring together thought leaders from across the state and the nation.  Take advantage of opportunities to network and learn from leaders and colleagues, building foundations from which productive interdisciplinary and interfacility teamwork can emerge. State-of-the-art lectures, discussions and debates will highlight best practices for the diagnosis and treatment of myocardial infarction in order to facilitate better outcomes.  This is your chance to participate in practical workshops to increase your understanding and knowledge of emergency cardiac care and help Texas build the best STEMI systems in the nation.

Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this course, participants should be able to:
1.       Discuss the role and timely application of reperfusion therapy for the optimal care of patients with STEMI;
2.       Discuss the basics of how to start, monitor and improve clinical pathways of care for STEMI;
3.       Prepare to participate in a regional STEMI network, either as a sending or receiving hospital;
4.       Discuss national guidelines/organizations/standards for STEMI care, and review the latest data regarding cardiac resuscitation and therapeutic hypothermia.

Who Should Attend
This program will be applicable to healthcare providers just beginning a STEMI program and those with maturing programs; it will improve care at STEMI referring and STEMI receiving centers.  This conference will especially appeal to physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners and nurses in cardiology, emergency medicine, internal medicine, family practice and others involved in the care of patients with myocardial infarction and its sequelae, in addition to emergency medical personnel who are involved in the initial evaluation, triage and transport of patients with
