For your safety and security, all attendees, exhibitors, staff and suppliers are required to wear their badge to have access to the American Heart Association’s Sessions.

Loss of Badge Credentials
The American Heart Association reserves the rights to revoke or deny attendance of any registered participant, speaker, exhibitor, news media reporter or photographer of presentations or activities at AHA/ASA scientific conferences and meetings.
Registration Fee Policy
The American Heart Association will not refund registration fees paid if a person joins at one member level, registers accordingly and then later upgrades to another member level with a lower registration fee. Similarly, no refunds will be given to anyone who registers in one category and then later submits verification to receive a discounted rate.
Requirements for Discounted Rates
- Student/Trainee – Must be full-time medical, nursing or graduate student, or full-time fellow (postdoctoral/clinical research) or house officer enrolled in a training program. Badge reads “Student/Trainee.”
- Technician - Must be full-time laboratory technician, research technician or cardiovascular technologist. Badge reads, “Technician/Technologist.”
- Nurse, Nurse Practitioner, EMT/Paramedic - Must be Plus, Premium or General Professional Member of the AHA/ASA, and full-time practicing licensed and/or certified nurse, paramedic or EMT. Badge reads “Nurse/Nurse Practitioner” or “EMT/Paramedic.” (Note: Nonmember nurses, paramedics or EMTs who join at the Early Career level are not eligible for the discounted rates.
- Early Career Member - This category is restricted to investigators, clinicians or health professionals who have completed training within the last five years. Also applies to physicians or scientists in their first five years after faculty appointment. Note: Discounted rates are only available to members in this category.
- Premium Emeritus Member - This category is limited to professional members 65 years or older tho have requested and received emeritus status from the association before registering.
- If you join or renew at the General Professional level, you do not receive the discounted registration fee benefit. A special discounted registration fee is offered only to nurses, EMT’s or paramedics who join at this level.
- Reduced fee registration categories require verification of status.
- Badges for Member and Nonmember Students and Technicians will not be mailed. Before receiving onsite materials, verification of status for Member and Nonmember Students and Technicians is required: current license, student ID or letter on institution letterhead. The full nonmember fee will be charged if verification is not provided.
- Guest Policy – Guest registration is defined as a spouse or family member of a professional registrant or a guest of an exhibiting company. Guest registrants are only permitted in the Science & Technology Hall. If you wish to access the full meeting, full registration is required. All guests who register onsite must present a Government issued photo ID and be accompanied by the conference registrant before receiving a badge onsite.
Policy of Recording
Unauthorized recording of the AHA Scientific Sessions, scientific conferences and the ASA International Stroke Conference is prohibited, whether by video, still or digital photography, audio or any other recording or reproduction mechanism. This includes recording of presentations and supporting audio-visual materials, poster presentations and supporting poster materials.
The American Heart Association and America Stroke Association reserve the rights to all recordings or reproductions of presentations at AHA/ASA scientific conferences and meetings. Check the program for information about the availability of videotapes or audiotapes for purchase. Exceptions to this policy prohibition are:
- Non-flash photography of the speaker and his/her presentation materials is permitted by attendees or AHA/ASA accredited reports upon the prior written consent of the AHA/ASA and of the speaker.
- Audiotape recording for strictly personal and non-commercial use is permitted if not disruptive; and exhibitors may photograph their own booth for promotional purposes upon prior written consent of the AHA/ASA.
Post-Event Photography Notice
During all American Heart Association sessions, attendees, vendors, guests and others may be photographed and videotaped by AHA vendors in capturing the event. Some of these photographs or videos may be displayed by the AHA in future publications or materials connected with the event. If you do not wish for your image to be displayed by the AHA, please contact the AHA in writing no later than two weeks after the meeting.

Children
The AHA does not allow children between ages 6 months to 18 years in the Exhibit Hall at any time. Infants under 6 months will be allowed in the Exhibit Hall during show days only. For insurance, liability and safety, infants must be held at all times; strollers and infant carriers will not be allowed. Parents are required to sign a liability waiver before taking an infant into the Exhibit Hall, and badges will need to reflect that a waiver has been signed. Waivers will be available at the family-member registration area. Because of the professional nature of the program and limited seating, children are not allowed into scientific presentations.

No-Smoking Policy
American Heart Association policy prohibits smoking in all areas of the convention center and all hotel meeting rooms hosting American Heart Association functions.
