The mission of the Council on Clinical Cardiology’s Heart Failure & Transplantation Committee is to serve as the American Heart Association’s panel of experts on heart failure and cardiac transplantation. Mission goals are shown below:
- Address issues as they arise related to the medical aspects of both heart failure and cardiac transplantation.
- Promote research and educational activities that may decrease morbidity and mortality from heart failure.
- Maintain current guidelines for the management of cardiac transplant donors and recipients.
- Serve as a resource in all areas of heart failure and cardiac transplantation and to provide the Executive Committee and the AHA with regular opinions concerning developments in this field.
- Integrate information between scientists and the public about the importance of clinical and basic science research, the application of knowledge in the clinical arena, and the fostering of inquiry to improve the prevention and therapy of heart failure and promote issues of awareness concerning organ donation.
