First systematic analysis of performance measures in atherosclerotic disease.
Patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS) and polyvascular atherosclerosis have a higher risk of mortality.
Evidenced-base improvements in the care of CAD patients are warranted.

Influence of Age on the Management of HF

Significant numbers of adults over 65 years of age are hospitalized due to heart failure.
Critical reductions in the use of evidence-based therapy among ACS and HF patients as they get older have been demonstrated.
Data collected from GWTG-HF participating hospitals demonstrates that HF patients over 85 years of age receive major evidence based treatments (ACEI/β Blockers).

Dissociation Between Door to Balloon Time and Improvements in Other AMI Care Processes and Patient Outcomes

Door to Balloon (DTB) of no more than 90 minutes is a quality of care indicator for patients suffering from acute myocardial infarction (AMI).
Since percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) is the preferred reperfusion strategy for patients with STEMI, delays in primary PCI are associated with worse short and long term outcomes.
Although Recent initiatives have focused on reducing door-to-balloon (DTB) times among patients with AMI undergoing PCI, DTB time is only one of several important AMI care processes.
