Late-Breaking Science: Come face-to-face with leading experts in the cardiovascular field as they unveil the latest breakthroughs in clinical science.

Fogarty, NHLBI, NIH and the Future of Global Cardiovascular Health Research: A celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Fogarty International Center which will showcase ongoing and future programs promoting the global health agenda into the 21st century, and engaging young academics to pursue global health research in their own specialty.

Frontiers in Science summits:

  • Arrhythmia Research Summit: Sessions will focus on the latest research and therapeutic innovations in the areas of arrhythmia mechanisms, diagnosis, and management. The rapid-fire style presentation will feature a wide range of topics that will drive discussions among clinicians, basic scientists, biomedical engineers, and outcomes experts.

  • Thrombosis Summit: This exciting platform explores the most recent progress in thrombosis research, bridging basic science and clinical care topics to facilitate communication and networking between thrombosis researchers and clinicians. Sessions will include arterial and venous thrombosis, pulmonary embolism, novel mechanistic targets in thrombosis, and the latest on emerging therapies and new anticoagulant drugs.

  • Stem Cells Summit: Leading stem cell researchers will conduct rapid-fire presentations as they answer key questions in the area of stem cell research while facilitating lively discussions amongst audience members.

  • Vascular Disease Summit: This program will provide a venue for the exchange of new ideas and collaboration between investigators engaged in cutting-edge research or "frontier science" in PVD. Speakers present in a rapid-fire format on current research activities in their own basic, clinical, epidemiologic or trial settings, followed by in-depth discussion. The overarching goals are to offer an intimate setting for intense open scientific discussion, to encourage "cross-pollination," share proven methodologies which may apply more broadly across specialty areas, and inspire scientific collaboration.

Precision Medicine Summit: This summit will look at the rapidly growing approach to disease prevention and individualized care. Sessions will cover big data initiatives, rapid-fire reports from the biggest names in cardiovascular genomic and precision medicine, the use of precision medicine in the diagnosis and treatment of cardiomyopathies and a special patient presentation.

Early Career Programming: Activities promote networking and mentorship between early career members and senior investigators for scientific outreach and career building.

International Joint Sessions: See which sister associations are joining AHA for joint sessions, providing a global approach to the latest science.

Abstract Oral and Poster Sessions: Got questions? Get answers during Abstract Oral Sessions, which allow you to interact with the presenter and generate meaningful discussion. Also don't miss the Poster Sessions.

Case Theaters: Learning at the Movies: Attend 45-Minute Live Presentations of recorded cases by international experts in challenging and controversial situations in structural heart disorders, cardiac surgery, vascular intervention and advanced heart failure. Get the schedule.
