Mission Statement
The American Heart Association's Council on the Kidney in Cardiovascular Disease's mission is to reduce cardiovascular-related disability and death through research, communication, advocacy and education about the kidney.

Kidney disease is a major cause and a consequence of cardiovascular disease. Chronic renal insufficiency is thought to be an independent risk factor for developing hypertension, vascular disease, atherosclerosis and other morbidity and mortality risk factors. Patients with cardiovascular disease and diabetes are also at high risk for developing kidney failure.
Call 9-1-1 immediately and say “I think this is a stroke” if you or someone you’re with has any of these stroke warning signs
  • Sudden numbness or weakness of the face, arm or leg, especially on one side of the body
  • Sudden confusion, trouble speaking or trouble understanding
  • Sudden trouble seeing in one or both eyes
  • Sudden trouble walking, dizziness, loss of balance or loss of coordination
  • Sudden severe headache with no known cause
