Mission Statement
The mission of the American Heart Association's Council for High Blood Pressure Research (HBPR) is "to foster excellence in high blood pressure research and education" and achieve the association's objectives in the field of hypertension. Members support the association's mission of "building healthier lives, free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke."
Call 9-1-1 immediately and say “I think this is a stroke” if you or someone you’re with has any of these stroke warning signs
  • Sudden numbness or weakness of the face, arm or leg, especially on one side of the body
  • Sudden confusion, trouble speaking or trouble understanding
  • Sudden trouble seeing in one or both eyes
  • Sudden trouble walking, dizziness, loss of balance or loss of coordination
  • Sudden severe headache with no known cause
