Mission Statement
The mission of the American Heart Association's Council for High Blood Pressure Research (HBPR) is "to foster excellence in high blood pressure research and education" and achieve the association's objectives in the field of hypertension. Members support the association's mission of "building healthier lives, free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke."

The risk factors for stroke and heart disease can be similar, so what’s good for the brain is good for the heart. A few simple steps toward getting healthier is a great way to avoid both diseases – and feel better and enjoy your life more. Awards, Lectures & Scholarships The HBPR council proudly sponsors numerous award programs which honor outstanding researchers, early career investigators or medical students

	Fellowship Fellowship provides a means to recognize council members for outstanding contributions to the field and service to the American Heart Association (AHA)	Hypertension Hypertension is one of 11 AHA journals. It represents the Councils on HBPR and KCVD, in cooperation with the Inter-American Society of Hypertension.

Council Committees The HBPR council is comprised of professionals who serve as experts on issues related to high blood pressure and research in cardiovascular disease.	Early Career HBPR council fosters the development of early career professionals, including research scientists and clinicians.
