COC GUIDELINES FOR
HONORARY AND COMPLIMENTARY MEMBERSHIPS

The following guidelines were instituted in Fiscal Year 2003-2004 and are reviewed on an annual basis.

1.     Honorary membership at the Premium Professional level for AHA President (current and past presidents) will continue until the Emeritus age limit is reached, at which time the member will be moved to the Emeritus Member or Emeritus Fellow category as appropriate.

2.     A free journal subscription of the member’s choice will be made available in perpetuity to the AHA President (current and past presidents).

3.     Honorary membership at the Premium Professional level will also be granted to Senior Editors of AHA journals. It, too, will continue until the Emeritus age limit is reached, at which time the member will be moved to the Emeritus Member or Emeritus Fellow category as appropriate.

4.     Former Senior Editors of AHA Journals will also receive a free subscription in perpetuity to the journal on which they served.

5.     Honorary memberships must be approved by SACC.

6.     Each Council must pay for its own complimentary members.

7.     Each Council may determine at which membership level (Premium or General) they will fund the complimentary membership.

8.     Councils will be asked to review their lists of honorary or complimentary memberships annually to determine if some awardees are eligible for continued free status or if they should be sent renewal notices.
