AHA Council Membership (CVDY) has been an important part of an academic career in Pediatric Cardiology ever since our specialty was created. It provides an easy means of access to colleagues from around the country and beyond, enables stimulating and sharing ideas, encourages networking, and fosters opening and maintaining lines of communications. Over the years, through Council activities, many of the important initiatives that have shaped our exciting discipline have been developed or have been nurtured by the AHA through the CVDY, and our patients and their families have been the beneficiaries.

We need to continue to be active advocates at all levels — political, scientific and organizational — on behalf of infants, children and adolescents with cardiovascular diseases and adults with congenital heart disease as well.
