Mission Statement

The mission of the Council on Basic Cardiovascular Sciences is to improve understanding of mechanisms of basic cardiovascular regulation to allow development of effective new interventions to better diagnose, treat and prevent cardiovascular disease. Special emphasis is placed on integrating molecular/cellular and physiological approaches that elucidate mechanisms of functional genomics and cell signaling processes involved in maintenance of normal heart rhythm, myocardial function, and circulatory responsiveness to metabolic demands throughout life.
