The Women in Cardiology Trainee Awards for Excellence encourage and recognize outstanding academic and clinical performance in women cardiology fellows during cardiovascular-related specialty training.  The grant subsidizes travel expenses to the American Heart Association's Scientific Sessions in November and attendance at the Women in Cardiology professional development program events.

Award Information (click on the sections below for more information)

  • All applicants for travel grants sponsored by a scientific council must be members of the AHA/ASA at any level.  If you need to become an AHA/ASA Professional Member, you should do so no later than May 30 for your membership to be processed in time for the application submission deadline.  Learn more about AHA membership.
  • Female trainees from ACGME- or AOA-approved training programs should apply.
  • International fellows are encouraged to apply.   
  • Previous winners of the Women In Cardiology Trainee Award for Excellence are not eligible.
  • Applicants must be able to attend specific Women in Cardiology events at the Scientific Sessions to be able to claim the award.
