EPI Minority Travel Grant

Updated:Oct 23,2013

Sponsored by the Council on Epidemiology and Prevention

The American Heart Association’s Council on Epidemiology and Prevention is offering a travel grant to minority early career investigators and students to attend the  Epidemiology and Prevention/Nutrition, Physical Activity and Metabolism 2014 Scientific Sessions from March 18-21, 2014, in San Francisco, CA.  Increased minority participation at AHA scientific conferences is vital to the AHA and the Council on Epidemiology and Prevention's efforts to address cardiovascular-related health disparities.

Awards will be issued based on the eligibility criteria below:

  1. The candidate must be a minority by the standard NIH definition: He or she belongs to a minority group underrepresented in biomedical and behavioral science careers, based on their minority group's representation in the total population. 2. The candidate must hold an academic (or equivalent) rank below associate professor (e.g., assistant professors, instructors, postdocs, fellows and students).
  3. The candidate must be conducting epidemiology research in the field of cardiovascular disease.
